Artificial Turf Installation in Chilliwack
Artificial turf, also called synthetic grass, is a manufactured lawn surface laid over a compacted, free-draining base. It stays green without mowing or watering, which makes it a good fit for Chilliwack yards that turn to mud in winter and brown off in summer. We install it for homes, businesses and backyard putting greens.

Why Chilliwack Homeowners Choose Artificial Turf
Most people who call us about turf are tired of the same cycle: a lawn that is too wet to use from November to March, then patchy and dry by August. A well-installed synthetic lawn stays usable through both seasons, and rain drains through it rather than sitting on top.
- No mowing, watering or fertilizing, and no muddy footprints coming into the house.
- Shady spots under trees and along fences where real grass keeps thinning out.
- Dog runs and play areas that need to stay usable after a rainy week.
- Small yards and townhomes where there is nowhere to store a mower.
- Putting greens for practising your short game at home.
Turf products come in a range of green shades, pile heights and textures, so we help you choose one that suits how the area will be used. The synthetic grass we supply and install comes with a 15 year manufacturer warranty on the turf product. Some areas are still better as natural grass or planting, and we install those too.

Artificial Turf for Chilliwack Yards
Lawns on Chilliwack’s valley floor can spend much of the winter soggy, then dry out and brown in July and August. Artificial turf sidesteps both problems. We install synthetic grass for backyards, shady side yards where grass struggles, and backyard putting greens.
Not sure turf is the right call? Compare it with a natural lawn on our sod installation in Chilliwack page (we install both), or pair new turf with a paver patio for a low-maintenance backyard. If you’re reworking the whole yard, start with landscape design: we come out for a free on-site consultation and go over the project with you. We install turf across Chilliwack neighbourhoods, from Sardis and Vedder to Promontory.
How We Install Artificial Turf
- Site visit. We take measurements, note how water drains and how equipment gets in, and discuss how it will be used: pets, kids, putting or just looks.
- Excavate. Existing grass and soil are removed to make room for the base layers.
- Build the base. A layer of crushed aggregate is spread, sloped for drainage and compacted firmly.
- Level the surface. A finer layer is added and compacted so the turf lies smooth with no dips or ridges.
- Lay and join. The turf is rolled out, cut to shape around beds and edges, joined at the seams and secured at the perimeter.
- Finish. Infill is spread where the product calls for it, and the fibres are brushed upright for a natural look.
Drainage Matters More Than the Turf Itself
Synthetic grass lets water through, but only if the ground underneath can take it away. Laying turf directly on Chilliwack clay or silt traps water and leads to soft spots, smells in pet areas and an uneven surface. The compacted aggregate base is what keeps the lawn firm and draining, so it is the part of the job we never rush.
On very flat or low-lying lots we look closely at where water will go once it passes through the base, and shape the grade so it moves away from the house and fences. For pet areas, good drainage plus regular rinsing keeps the surface fresh.
Choosing the Right Turf Product
Not every synthetic grass is the same. Pile height, density, colour and backing all affect how a lawn looks and wears. Shorter, denser turf suits putting and heavy use; longer piles look more like a natural lawn. Pet areas benefit from products and bases designed to drain quickly. We show you samples at the consultation so you can see and feel the options.
Artificial Turf FAQs
Lifespan depends on the product, how much foot traffic it gets and how well it is looked after. A quality turf on a properly built base can last many years. The synthetic grass we install carries a 15 year manufacturer warranty on the product, and we can walk you through what it covers at your consultation.
Yes, it is popular with dog owners because it stays mud-free and holds up to running and digging better than natural grass. Pet areas need a well-draining base and occasional rinsing to keep them fresh. Solid waste is picked up as usual, and a hose-down handles the rest.
Synthetic grass can feel warm in direct afternoon sun on the hottest days, more than natural grass. Shade from trees or structures helps, and a quick spray with the hose cools it down. Chilliwack summers are usually mild enough that it is not a problem for most of the season.
It should not be. Laying turf over grass or soil leaves a soft, uneven surface that holds water and lets weeds push through. A proper installation removes the existing lawn and builds a compacted, free-draining base, which is what gives turf its firm, level feel.
Maintenance is light: remove leaves and debris with a leaf blower or rake, rinse it now and then, and brush high-traffic areas to keep the fibres standing. Pet areas benefit from more frequent rinsing. A little attention through the year keeps it looking fresh.
Yes. We install backyard putting greens using synthetic turf designed for putting, built on a firm base so the ball rolls true. Greens can be designed to fit the space, with gentle contours if you want them, and blended into the rest of the yard with turf, pavers or planting.
